“Pastor Isai”, as Reverend Leslie Oliver is affectionally know, is a native of Newark, N.J. Rev. She holds a Bachelors of Arts in English and a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from Full Sail University. She will receive her Master of Divinity in Pastoral Care from Union Presbyterian Seminary in 2020.
Hailing from four generations of preachers and worship leaders, Pastor Leslie found inspiration to pursue music professionally while performing as the House music artist “Jazmina” during her years at Rutgers University. Pastor Leslie joined the Unity Fellowship Church Movement in 1993 where she was ordained a deacon in 1997 and licensed as a minister in 2002 at Liberation in Truth Unity Fellowship Church, under the leadership of Pastor Jacquelyn Holland. In 2004, Pastor Leslie relocated to Charlotte where she served as Minister of Praise Arts at Unity Fellowship Church Charlotte under the leadership of Bishop Tonyia M. Rawls. In 2007, Pastor Leslie was consecrated as UFCM’s National Minister of Music. Subsequently in 2009, she was ordained as a Reverend Currently, she is an educator, a psalmist and motivational speaker committed to the gospel and to justice.
In 2015, Pastor Leslie founded Sanctuary Outreach Ministries, a multi-dimensional outreach experience. She is currently a lead theomusicologist and cultural arts leader for the North Carolina Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for a Moral Revival. She was recently appointed as the lead ethnomusicologist for the Center for Social Justice and Reconciliation for Union Presbyterian Seminary. She is committed to social justice, to cosmic freedom and the power of love through the written and the spoken word.
